I have sixty cents.

  • My mother is Italian, and as such, she sometimes doesn't understand English vernacular.
  • My mother: Sometimes I think you have (in English) 'sixty cents'.
  • Me: Huh? I have (in Italian) 'sixty cents'?
  • Her: Noo... you're perceptive towards people. You have 'a sixty cents'!
  • Me: What?
  • Her: Like the movie! "The Sixty Cents" with Bruce Willis.
  • Me: Ohhh... you mean "the Sixth Sense" ... although I'm sure "The Sixty Cents" with Bruce Willis would have been way more awesome.

Supernatural - Matt and Gene

  • (While watching Season 2 of Supernatural)
  • Me: They sure make him whiny sometimes.
  • My Brother: Who, Matt?
  • Me: Who?
  • Him: That guy, Matt.
  • Me: What?
  • Him: In the show, the character.
  • Me: Do you mean *SAM*?
  • Him: Oh.
  • Me: Like 'Sam' and 'Dean'? We've watched an entire season and you still don't know their names? They've only said it a hundred times.
  • *pause*
  • Him: I thought we were watching a show about two guys called... "Matt and... ... Gene."

Failed. There are plenty of others willing to call you a failure. A fool. A loser. A hopeless souse. Don’t you ever say it of yourself. You send out the wrong signal— that is what people pick up. Don’t you understand? You care about something, you fight for it. You hit a wall, you push through it. There’s something you need to know about failure, Tintin. You can never let it defeat you.

I cry a lot because I miss people. They die and I can’t stop them. They leave me and I love them more.

Guess What I Just Watched?

Oh yeah. You know it.

I’m sure at least one fellow nerd is jealous right now, and that’s all I set out to do. If you didn’t know, Australia got the release a week before the U.S. — April 25th to be exact. The same thing happened with Thor. I’m not sure why this is, but I’m not complaining. I mean, being a nerd, I can only lord things over other nerds— so that’s what I’m doing.

Ahh. I’m on such a nerd high right now.

Nerd highs are the best kind of highs. Better than drugs. Nothing beats a nerd high.

Except maybe a nerdgasm.

Which I think I did a couple of times during this. That reminds me, I think I gotta change my pants.

I was so excited today I told my colleagues I was going to the movies to watch ‘the Avengers’ tonight and their reaction was much less enthusiastic than I had thought it would be. Yeah, to non-nerds, It’s kind of like I’m speaking a different language.

I’m so alone. T-T

I’ve gotta get a better job.

Don’t worry, I’m not going to spoil it or anything. I’m not that mean. So don’t worry. My review is pretty ambiguous.

The Avengers was probably my most anticipated Superhero movie of the year, and I wasn’t disappointed at all. I think it ties all the best of each movie really well together in a neat little package.

It was pretty awesome; I mean, it was tough to do but they did a great job. The pacing was excellent and the action was amazing. You run a gamut of emotion throughout, and I won’t spoil it but the second half is where it really picks up.

Props to Joss Whedon— and his mark is all over this movie. The pacing reminded me of Serenity a lot. So did a lot of the humor. But he excels in making fantastical worlds and characters very human, so I think he was a good choice as director. The flow on this movie is just right.

My favorite superhero movie— of the hereos that appear in this— was Iron Man. Then Captain America, then Iron Man 2, then Thor, with my least favorite being the Hulk.  Personally, I think the Avengers is the best of them all, though. Not sure if it can topple Iron Man, but it’s up there.

I watched in 2D, because 3D is a huge pet-peeve of mine now. Every time I watch something in 3D I wind up not noticing it after a while. Maybe it’s our theaters. It just doesn’t add much to it for me. However, my other brother got all jealous we watched it without him, so we might watch it 3D tomorrow night possibly.

In anycase, 2D doesn’t detract from anything at all.

Hopefully I’m not drumming it up too much. But it was pretty great. I’m in a bit of a pickle now though because I have such a crush on the guy who plays Hawkeye, since I saw him in Mission Impossible. And now I can’t decide between him and Iron Man. On the one hand, there’s just something about Jeremy Renner for me. On the other hand… it’s freaking Robert Downey Jr. I’ve loved him since I was about 10.

Chris Hemsworth is pretty to look at too.

Sigh. A girl could have worse problems right now. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to get back to staring at the free poster they gave me.

Suck on that, nerds. ♥

Best April Fools Day joke ever? For a geek like me, almost nearly.

FIELD OF DREAMS

Movies I've Seen But Don't Remember: Field of Dreams

So it’s about this guy (Kevin Costner) who is a farmer who loves him some corn. So he’s all like hanging out in his corn field one day (as you do) when he hears someone say: “If you build it, he will come.” No, I don’t know who said it. It doesn’t matter. It’s not important who says it. Okay, it was some guy. I don’t know who— a hobo, whatever. So he hears this voice, and instead of getting help for his undiagnosed schizophrenia, he decides the voice means he should build a baseball field. So he razes his corn, and he’s all; “Imma build a baseball diamond” and his wife is like, “That’s pretty obscure. Are you drunk again?” and he’s like, “no I’ve just been hearing voices.” So she’s all: “That’s okay then, sure, do it.” I don’t think wives are really so forgiving today. So anyway, you know when you have a really good idea and it turns out to be really terrible? That’s kinda the whole movie. And some old-timey ghosts show up to play baseball. The end.

*checks Wikipedia* Huh. Is that what it’s about? I still think I’m mostly right.

Was watching the Muppet Movie (the original) again, I was inspired to change my twitter pic to Miss Piggy, but accidentally googled ‘Piss Piggy’ instead. There’s a mistake my retinas will never forget.
